Work Program Anniversary

Recently I have been given the task of setting up for our colleges work program anniversary. A whopping 100 years have passed since the beginning of Blackburn's work program! As a graphic arts student I can utilize my abilities while also gaining experience in producing a presentation to be shown during our convocation on the day of the anniversary. In turn this is just another wonderful opportunity I can put on my resume and portfolio.

We decided during the general brainstorming phase to do a sort of voice over during the presentation since it'll be very image heavy and it might help break up the flow by voicing the quotes and explaining some of the scenes. Following our meeting today I've realized the voice over will be done by myself. Which I don't really mind since I'll already be producing the show so I will be familiar with the information. The only problem is that I'm a bit shy about my voice. Well... self conscious is more like it.

The presentation is to be shown February 18, 2013 at the college along with an art gallery exhibit showcasing some images of the work program over the decades. It seems like a large task but given that the due date isn't for another couple months I know I can pace myself with it and achieve the results I want. It helps that my boss for the project is very flexible and trusts my judgement. I really love working with her.

Unfortunately since this project is still in the development stages I don't really have any pictures to show or work in progress shots. Stay tuned for Thursday since I should have some work to show by then!

Have a great week everyone.

New School Year, More Coffee

As a senior at Blackburn University (or Blackburn College as many people know it) life has suddenly become a rat race of classes, studio time, seminar, coffee, jobs, coffee, and did I mention seminar?

While the typical student can be found frolicking or daringly lounging about in blissfulness of an abundant amount of freedom in DCC (which can be considered our "hot spot") seniors can be spotted occasionally in a blur of speed fueled by the primal need for coffee. This syndrome can also be known as "Iwouldlikealargecoffeetogothanksbye." That is to say I may be exaggerating just a smidgen. Some seniors prefer tea. Although who would prefer warm leaf juice over the life saving bitterness of coffee is beyond me.

Having transferred into Blackburn I wasn't able to enjoy the freshmen experience. Instead I dove head first into the life of a junior and surprisingly I survived! Blackburn is generally like most college and universities. We can be tough academically but also very laid back at times. Normally 300 and 400 level classes may seem daunting at times but if you find the strength to keep pushing yourself everyday it becomes easier to manage time and classes.

As a senior my year can be guaranteed to be full of exciting (and stressful, don't forget stressful) adventures that I'm hoping to share with all of you! Stick along for the ride as I will be posting biweekly on Tuesday's and Thursday's.
